On Sunday, September 27th , a picturesque fall evening, a team of dedicated BYSC family fans hosted the first BBQ “Open House” inviting those who may be interested to get involved with local sports programming through volunteering and funding opportunities with us. Hosted by BYSC “Fan families” Alison and Joshua Block, Jennifer and Adam Glucksman, Jennifer and Alan Goldfarb, Tara and Brian Kantor, Barbara and William Langford, Beth and Ed Metzendorf, Jocelyn and Scott Sontag, it was a win/win for all as more than 100 moms, dads and kids learned how BYSC bridges communities through team sports.

Teen volunteers from Scarsdale and Mamaroneck high schools and BYSC’ Junior Board members served as coaches to the young kids and as event ambassadors, communicating their important roles as part of BYSC’s team.

Emma Shpiz, a senior at Mamaroneck High School (MHS) and Co-President of the community club there summed it up this way. “Being a part of the BYSC community is so important to me…. I am a big field hockey player and cannot imagine my life not playing the sport. I want to share my enthusiasm, no matter what the sport, to kids who maybe need a little more help and encouragement. It means the world to me”.
