Hello colleagues,

Moog Minotaur Vst Plugins

Many VST's out today are capable of creating great analog sounding bass (Sylenth1 for example) but after hearing the Moog Minitaur in person, the difference between digital recreations of analog circuitry and true analog are very clear. Moog Music has announced a big update to their Minitaur Editor: “The Minitaur Editor has been rebuilt from the ground up and is now available free to all registered Minitaur owners. In addition to the new standalone editor – VST, AU, RTAS, and AAX plugin compatibility have been added for improved DAW integration. The Minitaur is a freakishly powerful yet compact tabletop analog bass synthesizer module based on Moog's widely popular Taurus 3. It gives you the full. I post this here since the Moog forum is almost dead and can't find a solution nor help from them.
I'm having the popular issue 'Disconnected' from the VST editors for the Minitaur and Sub 37, I'm using Windows 7 x64 + Ableton Live 10.

I've installed the latest firmware 2.2.1 and USB driver 4.35.0, also tried downgrading with other versions of firmware and using the generic USB composite driver from Windows too but I still get the disconnected message.
Moog minitaur vst crackThe standalone version of the editor works ok, so the issue is probably between windows and ableton 10. Was working ok in my old rig with Ableton 9.7.5. but not in this new PC and with the new Ableton Live.
Can someone tell me what can I do to test or solve this frustrating 'disconnected' problem?
thank you in advance.

Anyone using this, or the Sirin?
No problem using the Minitaur as a regular external instrument/synth. But I can’t seem to play it via the plugin.
MIDI I/O Maybe? Minitaur both in & out is what I thought and what works in Logic.

1. Add an External Device/ New Instrument, and type in Minitaur in the device name box
2. Choose 'Moog Minitaur Out' from the pull down menu of 'Send to' (provided the driver is installed and Minitaur powered on)
3. Create an instrument track and select 'Minitaur' (as named at step 1) in the output device menu. (this is where you place your midi notes events)
4. Create an Audio track (mono in this case) and select your audio interface input where you plugged in minitaur's output.
5. Drag and drop Minitaur Editor (found in FX browser) as an insert of this Audio Track. Pay attention not to drag the 'Minitaur editor VI' which is the virtual instrument version of the same editor.
6. Use the editor to adjust the minitaur's parameters. Neither editor (FX or VI) generates sounds.
there is no midi only VST so you can drag it directly onto instrument track- unfortunately this is a limitation of the VST framework (any VST has at least one audio output). This is useful if your intention is only to automate Minitaurs parameters.

I forgot about this thread after not getting an immediate response. Thanks!
OK, the VI doesn't generate sound like a typical VI? Is this a Studio One limitation? I thought I was able to use just an instrument track in Logic, and a long while back in Pro Tools.

So, I don't have a Minitaur nor a specific answer to your question.
In my case, the Roland Integra-7 has a plug-in editor that is inserted in an instrument track. This instrument track is not for MIDI note data, it's just for the plug-in editor where the user can manipulate various settings rather than fiddling with knobs on the hardware device while viewing the LCD. MIDI data is recorded on a separate MIDI track and the audio output is captured in an audio track.
In your case, it looks like kope has spelled out how to set up the Minitaur Editor on an audio track. Try to follow those instructions as indicated.
Are you able to open the editor on the audio track to manipulate parameters on your Minitaur?

I have found from experience you can open an editor as a stand alone thing outside Studio One, while Studio One is open. And set its Midi output parameters to the same midi port that Studio One is talking to. And the external synth that is will get the editor data and the Studio One midi signals at the same time. That is how it works for me with a Kurzweil PC3K.
I doubt the editor will work on an audio track. Some editors can be opened on Instrument tracks as you say.

The Minitaur Editor works the same way, controlling parameters. I prefer using the knobs on the hardware, but the Editor also controls 'under the hood' parameters not available on the hardware.
I'm going to revisit this tonight, but I needed 2 tracks the last time I tried, I assume an Instrument/MIDI and Audio track. I was just hoping this could be streamlined like in other DAWs.

not a limitation of Studio One. It behaves the same way regardless of which DAW you're using. The minitaur VI it is designed to work ONLY as a software control surface for your minitaur. It is not designed to work like a traditional Virtual Instrument to generate sounds on its own.
